Saving and encoding Youtube video in your computer

Okay this is the first post that are not craps. I guess its time for me to contribute something to everyone. For those of you who visit Youtube frequently and sometimes came across some video that no matter what you really got to have it...... well i guess this is a good news for you.

I have been cracking my head to figure out how to save those files in Youtube a long long time. And few days back my girl ask me the same question and I guess its time for me to find out how and teach her. Okay lets start the lesson : -

Step 01:- Ingredients

-FLV Player (as you know all Youtube files are in FLV format)
-FLV Encoder ( to convert FLV files into any files you want e.g MPG or WMV)
-www.keepvid.com ( to locate the Youtube files)

As for the FLV Player you can use RIVA FLV Player and you can get it at www.rivavx.com. There you can find the encoder too so it will ease you a little bit. Then you log onto this web site www.keepvid.com and with this website you can locate the Youtube file and save it in your hard drive.

Step02:- Saving the FLV file.

Log on Youtube and choose your favourite file. Then copy its URL, then turn to keepvid.com and paste it in the white long bar on top of the web page. Then you will see download at the bottom of the white long bar. Right click and save it to your hard drive. Remember that the file you saved is still under FLV format. Now you can play the file with RIVA player.

Step 03:- Encoding

Fire up your RIVA FLV encoder, the first white bar labeled with (Input) and you will see a Browse button. Click on it to look for the video that you have saved in your hard drive. Then on the second white bar labeled (Output) this is where the converted files will be saved. On the third white bar you will see its labeled with Destination Video File. Here you will notice the file is in .flv format. You need to change it to the format that you wish to convert e.g wmv or mpg format.

Then look for the encode button located at the left of the encoder. Click on it, and it normally take a few seconds. Finally you will have your favourite Youtube video on your computer all for yourself.

If you still don't understand how to do it. I have a special gift for you due to the hours i spend looking for it. http://www.lifehacker.com/software/video-demonstration/weekend-project-save-and-convert-a-youtube-video-205974.php . I believe this guy may be able to guide you through the whole process.

That's all for our lesson now. Hope that my research may help you guys and now I'm off to teach my girl how to do it. Enjoy ya videos
